Aston Villa fans criticise Wesley Moraes after Manchester City display
Aston Villa slipped to a 3-0 away defeat at Manchester City on Saturday afternoon – and some of the club’ supporters on Twitter raged at striker Wesley Moraes for his performance.
Dean Smith’s side had picked up seven points from their last three Premier League games going into the weekend, but were beaten by the reigning champions at the Etihad Stadium.
The Midlands giants went into half-time goalless, but second-half goals from Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan gave Manchester City the victory.
Villa now turn their attention to a home fixture against Wolves in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup and shouldn’t be too disheartened by a defeat to one of the world’s elite team.

A selection of Villa supporters on social media did vent their frustration towards Wesley after the result and believe he struggled in attack.
The 22-year-old centre-forward tried to battle away when leading the line by himself, but got very little change out of the Manchester City defence.
He has four goals in 10 games so far this campaign, but it was one of his quieter performances at the Etihad and he drifted through the contest before being substituted off.
Here are some Villa fans tearing into Wesley:
Wesley has made Stones look like a world class defender today

Anyone that tells me Wesley does enough to start in this villa team is simply not watching the same player I see every week. I’ve seen enough at this stage. He’s an impact player off the bench at best.

He frustrates me so much!!
Yeah he’s scored a couple of goals for us but any striker could score the goals he’s had, does nothing for us in general play!
He’s got no movement!!!— George Clifton ⚽ (@AvFcClifton)
Wesley is the third best striker at the club. Davis and Kodjia should be ahead of him imo.

Games like this you realise how little Wesley gives you

Wesley is a terrible striker. Embarrassing how bad he is. Slow, lazy and weak

We have to go big for a striker again in January, Wesley is lucky to have 4 goals to his name.
