Aston Villa duo Yannick Bolasie and Tammy Abraham are going to be key to the club’s promotion hopes this season.

They failed to beat Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, were thumped 4-1 by Sheffield United and recorded poor results against Reading, Brentford and Ipswich Town.

Villa were also dumped out of the Carabao Cup recently by Burton Albion, and Bruce has been under pressure since winning their opening three matches.

But they were back to winning ways at Villa Park, thanks to goals from Bolasie and Abraham

Bolasie and Abraham key to Premier League hopes?

Villa appear to have pulled off a coup signing the Premier League duo.

Bolasie, on loan from Everton, looked hungry to prove himself when he came on for Anwar El Ghazi.

The winger has missed a lot of football over the past year due to injury.

But he looked sharp in the 15 or so minutes he was afforded.

And needless to say Abraham also looks like he’ll have a huge bearing on Villa’s promotion hopes.

His goal served as a reminder that he is an experienced goalscorer at Championship level.

Their Premier League quality will shine through

Bolasie is an exceptionally tricky winger to deal with.

He obviously hasn’t had much of a chance to showcase that at Everton, but at Crystal Palace he proved he can be a complete menace.

Abraham, who scored five goals for Swansea in the top flight last year and was coveted by Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock this summer, is on loan from Chelsea and has worked with some top quality players.

The duo carry Premier League experience and quality and could well be the difference between promotion and stagnation this year. It simply depends if they can be consistent enough.
