Aston Villa could sign ‘one of the most talented young players in Europe’ by Monday

Aston Villa have been incredibly busy on the transfer front over the past few weeks as Unai Emery looks to fine-tune his squad.

Six players have joined the Villa ranks this summer, namely Ian Maatsen, Cameron Archer, Samuel Iling-Junior, Lewis Dobbin, Enzo Barrenechea and Ross Barkley.

A host of players have also left the Villans in recent weeks, with Moussa Diaby potentially next in line to depart Villa Park amid links with Al-Ittihad.

However, Villa are reportedly edging closer to making two new signings, and Fabrizio Romano has now shared an update on one of the two players.

Amadou Onana set for Aston Villa medical on Sunday

The player in question is Amadou Onana, who is set to complete a move to Aston Villa from Everton imminently.

According to Romano, Villa have booked a medical for the Belgium international for Sunday. If all goes to plan, he will sign the Villans contract on Monday.

The transfer insider reiterated that Villa are set to pay £50million for Onana, with Everton also including a sell-on clause and add-ons in the deal.

Earlier today, Romano reported that Hull City star Jaden Philogene was signing for Villa imminently.

Villa have been incredibly busy in the market, bringing in a host of players and moving others on. As of mid-July, six have joined and two more are set to arrive.

Onana will be a particularly exciting acquisition, as has made a name for himself as one of the Premier League’s best young players.

He’s a very talented midfielder who stands 6ft 5in tall, is rapid and, at just 22 years of age, he’s nowhere near his peak and is likely to become even better.

Roberto Martinez is quoted by the as saying about Onana in 2022: “He’s a strong personality. He never hides, he asks for the ball and he dares.

“He is one of the most talented young players in Europe.”
