‘He’s got the lot’: Gerrard says Aston Villa have a top talent in their ranks

Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has waxed lyrical about Villans striker Ollie Watkins following his display last night.

The 25-year-old scored at Villa Park to halve the deficit against Manchester City early in the first half.

Watkins’ effort got Villa back into the game and, although Gerrard’s charges couldn’t go on to get a second, it was still a valiant effort.

The England international looked a threat against one of the Premier League’s best defences, giving their centre-backs a tough game.

Watkins has impressed at Villa since joining last summer, with 20 goals in 52 appearances in all competitions.

And Gerrard was eager to praise the striker, saying he has impressed him since taking the Villa reins.

“I don’t think there is a limit for Ollie,” the quotes Gerrard as saying.

“He’s got the lot – pace, power, aggression.

“He has really stepped forward in the two weeks I have been here, and he will grow.

“He will enjoy the style we play so there isn’t a ceiling for him.”

Villa are back in Premier League action on Sunday when they host Leicester at Villa Park.
