Ashley Williams wants £42m player to leave Manchester City in January
Ashley Williams has given his take on the future of Manchester City midfielder Kalvin Phillips.
The former Everton defender has said that Phillips needs to leave the defending Premier League champions.
So, what has Ashley Williams said about Manchester City and Kalvin Phillips? Let’s take a look.
Kalvin Phillips told to leave Manchester City in January
Well, Ashley Williams believes that Kalvin Phillips should leave Manchester City in the January transfer window.
The former Everton defender has said that the ex-Leeds United midfielder is too good to sit on the bench at City, who won the Premier League, the UEFA Champions League and the FA Cup last season.
Phillips is a player in demand. Several clubs have been linked with the England international midfielder.

Newcastle United are reportedly taking the first steps to bring the former Leeds star to St. James’ Park. Tottenham Hotspur are keeping an eye on his situation at the Etihad Stadium.
Arsenal want to sign Phillips to replace Thomas Partey. Liverpool are also keen to get a deal done for the 28-year-old.
Williams said about Phillips on : “I hope he does go. I hope he does go for himself to get back on the pitch and play. He is too good to be just watching football.”
Kalvin Phillips should consider his future
In my view, Kalvin Phillips has to consider his future at Manchester City, especially with the likes of Newcastle United and Arsenal interested in him.
As Ashley Williams has noted, Phillips is too good to be a squad player even at City. I believe that the £42 million () star could start for another top club in the Premier League.
The £150,000-a-week () midfielder did well for Leeds in the Championship and then in the Premier League. True, things have not worked out for him at City, but that does not mean that he is not a good player.
Phillips is not going to get into the City first team anytime soon, and I think that he needs to move to another club in the January transfer window, even if that be a loan deal.
