Ashley Williams tips Joe Rodon to succeed Bale as Wales captain
Former Swansea and Wales defender, Ashley Williams, believes Spurs star Joe Rodon is one of two players who can succeed Gareth Bale as Welsh captain.
Bale is still very much involved in the international set up. But now into his 30s, thoughts will be turning to who can replace the Real Madrid winger as the long-term successor with the armband.

And Rodon, who only signed for Spurs in October from Swansea, has been tipped by Williams to be in the conversation to succeed Bale.
“When Gaz [Gareth Bale] retires, whenever that might be, you have got two clear candidates,” Williams said. ()
“They are young boys, but I think the qualities you can see early on – Joe very much on the pitch, Ethan on and off the pitch. They are very good candidates.”
Rodon has made a good impression on Jose Mourinho and has started and finished the last three Premier League fixtures. The 23-year-old will be hoping for more of the same this coming weekend, where Spurs have two games in quick succession ahead of the League Cup final.
TBR View: Rodon certainly looks the part for someone so young
Spurs knew what they were doing when they made a last ditch move for Rodon. He’s got all the qualities to be a very good PL defender and he’s already displaying those qualities.
For Wales, he’s already a regular and will no doubt remain in the XI for some time yet. The next natural step is to be the skipper and, like Williams says, he does look up to it.
Spurs will hope that plays into their hands and helps Rodon’s development that bit further.
