A new striker is the priority, but the Gunners are apparently also keeping tabs on wide players.

Raphinha has proven himself to be one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Premier League.

The Brazil international has scored nine times this season and contributed three assists.

However, his future at Leeds remains uncertain amid reported interest from numerous clubs.

Barcelona were viewed as the likeliest club to sign Raphinha.

However, Leeds’ purported £55million valuation of the 25-year-old forced Barca to look elsewhere.

Romano took to Twitter to stress that the Whites ‘won’t accept less than €55m (£47m)’ for Raphinha.

He also said Arsenal have been eyeing Raphinha since March, but is not a priority for them.

Youri Tielemans and Gabriel Jesus – a central midfielder and a centre-forward – are the Gunners’ top targets, he added.

Arsenal icon Paul Merson has spoken highly of Raphinha over the course of the 2021-22 campaign.

He wrote on a few months ago: “Raphinha is a player who has generated a lot of transfer talk in recent weeks, with Barcelona reportedly interested in snapping him up this summer.

“I think he’ll leave Leeds regardless of what happens – he’s capable of playing for any of the big boys in the Premier League.”
