‘As I understand it’: 27-year-old Aston Villa player won’t be sold, Gerrard really rates him – journalist
Morgan Sanson is all set to stay at Aston Villa beyond this summer after impressing manager Steven Gerrard in pre-season.
The have said that he looks lean and sharp since the start of the summer, and has impressed enough to stay around.
Gerrard is going through his first summer as Villa boss, and the 27-year-old seems to have caught his eye, operating in the same area of the pitch the Englishman made his name.
In a question and answer piece with fans, journalist Ashley Preece said his understanding of the situation is that Sanson is going nowhere.

Sanson set for Villa stay
When asked whether Sanson has a future at the club, Preece said: “Yes, Sanson’s one of a group who’s really emerged from pre-season.
“Looks physically stronger now and has remained injury-free. He needs a run of games and, should his performances continue, that will surely be the case.
“A huge, huge season for the Frenchman who’s still very much part of SG’s plans as I understand it. Played well against Manchester United.”

Part of Gerrard’s remit is getting rid of the players who do not fit into his plans, and getting those through the door who do.
But another aspect is rejuvenating players who have lost their way, and giving them a chance to impress him and add something to the squad.
The early signs are that Sanson is ready to do that, but the proof will be in the pudding when the serious action starts next month.
