As agent peddles England move Leeds United must rekindle interest in Nahitan Nandez
Reports from Italy this week have suggested that the agent of Uruguayan midfielder Nahitan Nandez has been trying to drum up interest in his clients services from Premier League clubs Arsenal and Chelsea.
claims that the 24-year-old’s representative has been trying to push for a move to England for his client, who has enjoyed a stellar debut season in Serie A with Cagliari.
But if his agent is looking to force a move to England, then surely Leeds United should rekindle their interest.
Last April, that Leeds United were keen on bringing the player to Europe from Boca Juniors.

His agent even spoke of a move to Leeds United. Pablo Bentacur told, as , that Nandez would relish the chance to work with Bielsa.
“I spoke with important clubs in Europe and he told me that he would like to play with Bielsa,” Bentacur stated.
He went on to suggest that the only thing preventing a move to Leeds was the division they were playing in.
“There is a good relationship and good dialogue [with Leeds]. There are problems in the division but what I can say in a personal way is that it would be a pleasure to play in Leeds and Nahitan also told me that. Logically,” he clarified, “Nahitan is not a player for Serie B [or the Championship].”
However, no deal ever happened as Leeds were not promoted to the Premier League and Nandez ended up at Cagliari in a deal worth a reported £16 million.
That fee has been proven more than justified during his time in Italy and Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League has surely given them a chance at finally securing Nandez’s services.
He could operate in a box-to-box role or in holding midfield, making him the perfect cover for both Kalvin Phillips and Mateusz Klich at Elland Road.
Of course, he would be an expensive recruit. in January, amid interest from West Ham, that the Rossoblu valued Nandez at €40 million (£36m). However, that fee has likely dropped since the financial consequences of the global health crisis.
If Nandez is genuinely considering a move to England this summer, then Leeds United will surely need to get their name back in the conversation.
