Mikel Arteta could now start ‘outstanding’ £93k-a-week talent for Arsenal at Luton
Arsenal have a quick turnaround in games following their Premier League encounter on Saturday as they play away at Luton Town on Tuesday night.
The main concern for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is at right-back, with Takehiro Tomiyasu facing a late fitness test for the match.
However, should Tomiyasu not be fit, then the Arsenal boss has already confirmed that Ben White is available to take his place.
“After his injury and the way we decided to manage his load, he’s feeling perfect and back to fitness,” Arteta explained. “He played some minutes and he’s now in a good place.”
White had been an ever-present in the Arsenal starting XI earlier this season, but an injury caused him to miss the Burnley game just before the international break.
Arteta has since restricted the 26-year-old to brief appearances against Brentford and Wolves in the Premier League, plus a full half in the Champions League tie against Lens.
Arsenal could bring back Ben White
However, White is now good to go, and it couldn’t have come at a better time, with Tomiyasu still a doubt going into the game at Kenilworth Road.
The £93,000-a-week defender () has been an ever-present in the Arsenal backline since joining the club for a fee reported to be back in 2021.
He has already made over a century of appearances for the Gunners, both as a centre-back and as a right-back. This shows how crucial he is to Arteta.

White’s trajectory has been incredible since he broke through, and he’s only getting better and better.
This is also Kevin Campbell’s opinion. The Arsenal legend lauded White on after the Gunners’ win over Manchester City.
“He’s a centre-back at right-back and I think he’s grown in that position,” Campbell said.
“Ben White has been outstanding, the clean sheet is for the goalkeeper and the back four, that’s their hat-trick.
“Ben White as I say is going from strength to strength, the way he plays, he’s not gung-ho, it makes us so much more solid because you have to respect the space against Manchester City.”
Arsenal are flying high again and White’s return to action is another boost for the Gunners.
