Arsene Wenger says what needs to happen at Tottenham immediately because ‘fans are not happy’

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has now taken his chance to weigh in on the problems that Tottenham Hotspur are experiencing over in N17.

Tottenham won their first game at home in 105 days against Manchester United on Sunday, a visiting side who were actually more depleted than their hosts owing to injury.

Spurs welcomed back the likes of James Maddison and Guglielmo Vicario to start against United, as well as strengthening their bench.

However, Ruben Amorim essentially arrived in north London with a bare 11 and a bench full of youngsters who he was reluctant to throw into a difficult situation.

As a result, Spurs edged out a 1-0 win, a result that Ange Postecoglou needed, and one that should provide some confidence of there being some kind of light at the end of the tunnel.

Arsene Wenger calls for a squad overhaul at Tottenham

That being said, Wenger spoke to beIN SPORTS about Tottenham’s situation right now during their match on Sunday.

Spurs supporters protested against Daniel Levy and the club’s ownership before their win against United, marching through the streets of N17.

And when reflecting on the situation at Tottenham himself, Wenger suggested that the club’s playing staff was in desperate need of an overhaul, something that’s also true at Old Trafford.

Wenger said: “The fans are not happy because today it’s a team with 14 who plays against a team with 15.

“You will not find many happy fans on both sides, so when you say it’s a very important game, I would say for the table it’s not an important game because they are out of everything.

“It’s an important game like you say for pride, and to try and find some peace with your fans because both teams cost over a billion pounds.

“So you would say both have basically the same problem, to find good players to rebuild their team.

“The whole team is to be rebuilt at Tottenham and at Man United as well and that will not be easy for both sides.”

Daniel Levy responds to Tottenham fan’s protests

According to reports, Levy will step aside from his role at Tottenham when he feels the moment is right.

Levy is said to be ‘hurt’ by the fan’s protests, which show no sign of slowing down right now.

Spurs did spend in January but the club’s supporters want to see more ambition in the transfer market, and perhaps they’ll actually agree with Wenger on this occasion.

Tottenham are looking to invest in Cristian Romero’s future right now, but there’s still a lot more work to be done if the club are serious about returning to the Champions League.

Talk of Postecoglou being sacked has now calmed down, but there’s still plenty of unrest in north London.
