Aaron Ramsdale’s Arsenal future appears to be up in the air.
The England international has spent most of this season sitting on the bench at the Emirates, and he’s probably unhappy with his current situation.
With the summer transfer window fast approaching, it will be intriguing to see what happens with the goalkeeper come the end of the season.
Speaking on , Chris Wheatley has been discussing Ramsdale’s situation, and he says that the goalkeeper could well leave Arsenal on loan this summer, claiming that it could be a situation similar to Albert Sambi Lokonga or Kieran Tierney.

Aaron Ramsdale could leave on loan
Wheatley shared what he knows about the man.
“Goalkeeper, we know that Aaron Ramsdale probably isn’t going to be happy if he’s not playing, so he could potentially leave in the summer, David Raya’s deal will turn permanent, his loan from Brentford so perhaps a backup goalkeeper if Ramsdale goes,” Wheatley said.
“January was never a likely option for him to leave, but the summer is a different kettle of fish. It now looks like Ramsdale is a deputy, that’s not what Ramsdale wants. It’s something he will consider in the summer, something he will look at and something the club will look at.”
“If he is to leave do you think it could be on a permanent basis or one where Arsenal send him out for a while and assess him further down the line?” Wheatley was asked.
“Yeah I think there is that possibility as well. Like we’ve seen with Lokonga, Nuno Tavares and Kieran Tierney as well. There’s a possibility with Ramsdale that he could go out on loan as well,” Wheatley answered.
Not easy
The sad reality is that it won’t be easy for Ramsdale to find a club this summer.
The goalkeeping market is dreadful at the moment – nobody seems to need a ‘keeper right now.
David De Gea has now spent eight months without a club after leaving Manchester United for this very reason, and Ramsdale may not be able to find a suitor this summer, even if he’s made available for loan.
It will certainly be interesting to see what happens with Ramsdale heading into this summer.
