Arsenal willing to let ‘leader’ leave on loan in January – report

Arsenal defender Pablo Mari has been linked with a move away from the Emirates for a number of months now.

Back in summer, reported that the Gunners centre-back was “seriously” considering a move away.

Mari stayed put, but he remains on the fringes of the Arsenal team.

The 28-year-old has made a mere three appearances in all competitions under Mikel Arteta this term.

Indeed, Mari has not been in a matchday squad since the 1-0 Premier League win over Burnley in September.

More recently, football.london reported that the Spaniard is considering his options amid interest from Flamengo.

Now, has claimed that Arsenal are in fact also willing to let Mari leave.

However, Edu is reportedly unwilling to loan him to a South American team, added the Brazilian outlet.

They also claim Flamengo would only be able to sign him if they paid just half of his .

It remains to be seen whether Arsenal would be willing to accept such terms.

Arteta and Edu appeared to have snapped up a gem when they brought him to the Emirates in January 2020.

They signed him on loan from Flamengo before making the deal permanent for a reported .

“He is a leader,” Arteta told the in early 2021.

“He is someone who trains really hard, he is really professional.”

But if Mari is now not getting a look-in, it’s not surprising to hear he reportedly wants to move.

And judging by the latest reports, it looks as though Arsenal could be willing to let him do so.
