Report: Arsenal want ‘complete’ £26m man as part of 2023 summer reshuffle

Arsenal might have cooled their immediate interest in Brazilian midfielder Danilo, but there could be another move for him in the summer of 2023.

Danilo has long been touted as a potential signing for the Gunners. However, nothing has materialised as yet and reported today that Arsenal are going to pursue Youri Tielemans in January rather than Danilo.

However, that same report from also doesn’t end Arsenal’s interest in Danilo completely. Instead, it’s claimed that the Gunners will still look into signing the South American in the summer. It’s mentioned how Arsenal would like to reshuffled their midfield and Danilo features on their list of targets.

Just who in the current squad is going to make way for Danilo and Tielemans remains to be seen. Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka are seen as key players. The likes of Mo Elneny and Sambi Lokonga, though, could well be moved on.

Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League ahead of the restart. Mikel Arteta is thought to be keen on adding a couple of new faces in January.

However, as always with Edu and Arteta, there are plans in place beyond the winter. Danilo, then, seems to feature in those plans. Still just 21, the Brazilian very much fits in with the ethos around transfer targets at The Emirates.

TBR’s View: Danilo clearly someone Arsenal like

The links to Danilo have gone on that long now that it would be amazing if some sort of bid didn’t come in at some point.

Arsenal’s success with Brazilian players means that they’re always likely to take a punt. Lauded as a ‘complete‘ midfielder for his all-action style, Danilo certainly ticks boxes for Arsenal.

Of course, the immediate priority is adding players in January. But you have to admire Arsenal’s succession planning and it does seem some eyes are already on the summer.
