Arsenal want to sign 17-year-old who became the youngest-ever player to captain club last year
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Ajax teenager Jorrel Hato – a youngster who made history by becoming the club’s youngest-ever captain last year.
Mikel Arteta will be keen to get Arsenal’s season back on track after a recent slump in the Premier League. The January transfer window feels like an ideal opportunity for the Gunners to bolster their squad in a bid to win the title.
There has been plenty of talk about Arsenal targeting a new striker, with the likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen heavily linked.
Yet, The Athletic’s David Ornstein recently suggested that Arteta could be on the lookout for another option at left-back this month.
It’s no secret that Oleksandr Zinchenko hasn’t been at his best this term, while Takehiro Tomiyasu and Jurrien Timber have been sidelined.
And claims that Arsenal are eyeing a move for Ajax left-back Jorrel Hato.

Arsenal eyeing move for Hato
The outlet reports that Arsenal are plotting a move to sign Hato in an attempt to bolster Arteta’s options in defence.
The 17-year-old has just 18 months left on his current deal, with Ajax keen to to tie him down on a new long-term contract.
However, the report notes that the feeling in the Netherlands is that Arsenal are more likely to move for Hato in the summer, rather than in January.

Hato is enjoying a real breakthrough season in the Eredivisie, having racked up a total of 27 appearances for Ajax.
Of course, the Dutch giants are enduring a tough campaign and currently sit fifth in the table after a torrid start to the season.
Yet, Hato has been a shining light for Ajax and even became after being passed the armband in the 67th minute in a clash against Almere City.
The Dutch youngster is also capable of playing as a centre-back, as well as a left-back. He’s already earned a cap for the Netherlands too as he made his debut back in November against Gibraltar and grabbed an assist.
Arsenal are likely to be focused on bringing in players who can make an instant impact this month. But snapping up a talent like Hato would be a smart piece of business.
The Gunners have already done business with Ajax recently as they signed Jurrien Timber over the summer. Yet, this may be one to keep an eye on for the summer window as Arteta sets his sights on a league title for the time being.
