Report: Arteta prepared to accept just £25m for ‘outstanding’ player; he’s played more than 100 times for Arsenal
Arsenal are said to be ready to sell Nicolas Pepe this summer for as little as £25m, according to a report from today.
The note from the Italian outlet suggests the Gunners want just a third of what they paid for Pepe in the first place, with Mikel Arteta ready to cut the club’s losses on the former Lille star. Pepe, 26, has failed to really live up to the hype at Arsenal. He has scored goals in over 100 appearances for the club, but on the whole, his spell has been disappointing.

He has had his moments as a Gunners. Paul Merson described Pepe as being ‘outstanding’ during a win over Christmas, but those performances have been few and far between.
In terms of interest, there doesn’t seem to be a shortage when it comes to Pepe. Reports a few weeks back claimed that AC Milan wanted the Ivorian winger. However, nothing has developed on that since.
Pepe has found himself down the pecking order at Arsenal thanks to the form of players like Saka, Smith Rowe, and Martinelli. Even with the departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – who often played on the left – Pepe has found game time hard to come by.
TBR’s View: £25m Is Actually Good Business For Arsenal With Pepe
They aren’t ever going to get back what £70m+ they paid so anything between 20-30m is going to be good business for the Gunners.
Getting money into the club this summer will help Arteta rebuild again. He signed well last summer but he’s aware this summer is a big one. Arsenal need complete players and stars who can instantly improve the XI. If Pepe is moved on to aide that cause, then so be it.
Pepe will look back on his Arsenal career with disappointment you imagine. However, he does have time to get going again.
