Report: Arsenal want to sign £33m Englishman; Arteta likes him a lot
According to a report from today, Arsenal have their eyes on Aston Villa striker, Ollie Watkins, as they identify replacements for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Watkins has produced the goods for Villa ever since signing for from Brentford. This season, he’s hit five goals in and looks to be a key man under new boss, Steven Gerrard.
But with Arsenal looking for a new number nine, Villa now face a fight to keep Watkins. claims that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Watkins. In particular, he likes his movement and ability to play across the front. Watkins is among a number of strikers Arsenal are said to be considering.

Watkins has enjoyed his time with Villa and has won England caps along the way. Indeed, he has scored for the Three Lions once in his five caps thus far.
However, a January move for the striker is said to be unlikely. Instead, it’s claimed Arsenal could wait until the summer and will continue to monitor Watkins up to that time. Come the summer months, the Gunners will hope to have a clearer picture of just who is the most viable option for them.
TBR’s View: Watkins At Arsenal Would Be Brilliant
If you want a striker to work from the front, close defenders down, and be a general nuisance, then Ollie Watkins is your man really. He’d be a super fit for Arsenal and this Arteta side.
Of course, Villa won’t want to sell. He’s their man man, main source of goals, and a top international striker.
However, Arsenal have proven they’ll spend if needed. They made big moves in the summer to bring in players like Aaron Ramsdale and Ben White. Certainly, it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise for them to land Watkins in the summer.
