Arsenal vs Crystal Palace: Confirmed line-ups, match discussion and fan reaction

With Arsenal’s Premier League title chances not yet mathematically over but hanging by the slimmest of threads, the visit of Crystal Palace presents them with the opportunity to maintain a form of pressure on Spurs and Leicester City in second and first respectively.

The Eagles’ victory over Norwich City last weekend all but secured their stay in the top flight for another year, finally arresting the slump since the turn of the year which threatened to drag them into a real relegation dog-fight. Arsenal may have only won two of their last five matches at the Emirates, but are enjoying a six-game winning streak in this match-up over the years.

Alex Iwobi has shot to stardom in recent weeks, coming into Arsenal’s starting eleven and retaining his place with consecutive strong displays that are even more impressive given his limited game-time until that point. The Nigerian youngster could be the key man once again if deployed correctly by Arsene Wenger, with Alexis Sanchez likely to be another instigator of Palace’s potential downfall.

Looking to hold off the Gunners’ free-flowing football in North London will be Scott Dann, but he must have the support of his fellow defenders and the midfielders in front of him to try and continue the mini-run of two consecutive clean sheets. Pardew’s selection further up the pitch will also be interesting, as they are blessed with pace on the flanks and the potential impact of Emmanuel Adebayor; who has been known to haunt his old clubs, will be a fascinating watch.
