‘Best game in a Palace shirt’: Some Eagles fans wowed by youngster’s display v Arsenal

Some Crystal Palace fans have waxed lyrical about Tyrick Mitchell’s display for the Eagles against Arsenal on Monday night.

Patrick Vieira’s charges came close to beating the Gunners at the Emirates and were unlucky to concede late on, dropping two points in a 2-2 draw.

Palace went behind after just eight minutes, Vicente Guaita palming Nicolas Pepe’s curling effort into the path of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who duly volleyed home.

However, the visitors equalised early in the second half through Christian Benteke, who took full advantage of an Arsenal defensive mishap to claim the ball and fire home.

Odsonne Edouard then struck a powerful effort over Aaron Ramsdale and in off the bar to put Palace ahead on 74 minutes.

Just as it looked as though Palace were heading for a famous win, they failed to clear a corner and, in the ensuing scramble, Alexandre Lacazette popped up to slot home for a share of the spoils.

Despite the disappointing result, there were still plenty of positives for Palace and their fans.

Mitchell performed well against tough opposition in Pepe and Takehiro Tomiyasu, always looking to get forward and also impressing defensively.
