Arsenal transfer: Gunners still fancy Aouar but prefer £86m-rated wonderkid
Arsenal are still keen on signing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, . It is claimed, however, that the club has shown more of an interest in Eduardo Camavinga.
Arsenal are looking to bolster their midfield ranks this summer. Ruben Neves has been strongly linked, whilst Yves Bissouma is also on the radar.
Aouar was strongly linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium during last summer. A move didn’t come to fruition, although the Frenchman is available for £25 million now.

He didn’t enjoy an amazing campaign last term. He scored just eight times and claimed four assists from his 33 games in the Lyon team.
At 22 though there is plenty of potential, although Juventus and Atletico Madrid are now thought to be keen.
With that in mind, it seems as though Arsenal are focusing more attention on Camavinga. He fits the defensive midfielder role more appropriately but is extremely talented.
At 18 he is one of Europe’s most highly-rated wonderkids and will have no shortage of suitors. Despite his tender years, he has 82 appearances for Rennes.
claimed recently that Camavinga was refusing to sign a new deal with his current club.
The stumbling block for Arsenal over the talented midfielder is the valuation. Rennes looks unlikely to budge on the they want to recoup for him.
Camavinga or Aouar: Arsenal clearly want midfielders
It does seem abundantly clear where Arteta’s transfer priorities lie this summer. Several midfielders have been linked and the engine room looks in need of reinforcing.
Granit Xhaka could leave this summer, whilst Dani Ceballos has returned to Real Madrid. That leaves Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny as options for Arsenal.

Camavinga looks like a quality player, but a really unlikely signing for the Gunners. Valued at £86 million it just doesn’t seem feasible without Champions League football on the table.
That could see attention revert back to Aouar. They might need to move quickly though, with other clubs now registering their interest.
