Arsenal told to now target ‘incredible’ wing-back with 10 goals this season
Janusz Michallik has suggested that Arsenal could do with signing a specialised left-back this summer, with Alex Grimaldo one option in his mind.
Arsenal are thriving right now. And perhaps one of the biggest surprises of late has arguably been Jakub Kiwior. The Poland international has been superb in the left-back role in recent games. And there is an argument that he should keep his place for the majority of what remains of the season.
Mikel Arteta does have Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu. And Arsenal fans will be incredibly excited about when Jurrien Timber returns from injury.
Arsenal told to target Alex Grimaldo
The left-back role has been particularly important under Arteta. But with Ben White proving that he is also able to play in the inverted role on the opposite flank, Arsenal do have a little freedom should they decide to target a left-back in the summer.

And speaking to , Janusz Michallik claimed that Alex Grimaldo would be a really smart signing.
“They probably need a left-back. I think that they need somebody special there, because Kiwior can play there. Zinchenko, I don’t know how much left he’s got. So I’m going to throw Grimaldo from Leverkusen, a player that may be of age, 28, but incredible,” he said.
“I’ve mentioned Arsenal being great on set-pieces, so why not add to that?”
Bayer Leverkusen star is having an amazing season
Grimaldo has been absolutely outstanding for Leverkusen this season. He has scored eight goals and contributed 10 assists in the Bundesliga for Xabi Alonso’s men. In all competitions, he has scored 10 goals.
And, as Michallik notes, Arsenal have proved to be devastating from set-pieces of late. Declan Rice has been amazing from dead ball situations. But Grimaldo is lethal.
Grimaldo also has nine assists in 40 Champions League games during his career. So he is likely to have a lot of admirers this summer given what Leverkusen have achieved this season.
Much may depend on what Arteta has in mind for Timber. But some Arsenal fans may well not mind seeing another left-back arrive at the end of the season.
