Arsenal tipped to lose player who’ll have Chelsea and Manchester City ‘on his doorstep’, it’s looking ‘bad’ for Gunners

Arsenal haven’t exactly had the greatest of summers on the transfer front, with just one new signing on board.

While Arsenal have brought in a great goalkeeper in Kepa Arrizabalaga, they’re yet to bring in anyone in the outfield positions.

Attack is an area of particularly high concern for Arsenal, whose Premier League title challenge was arguably compromised by their lack of a centre-forward.

The Gunners are also looking for reinforcements on the flanks – but they’re now at risk of losing one of their current talents in that position.

Arsenal tipped to lose Ethan Nwaneri amid Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool interest

Arsenal have been trying to get Ethan Nwaneri to pen a new contract at the Emirates Stadium, but it’s not proven to be smooth sailing so far.

TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey previously confirmed that Nwaneri is not close to committing himself to a new long-term contract at Arsenal.

Nwaneri was involved in the first team all of last season but started just 10 Premier League games – and he also knows that Arsenal are in the market for two more forwards this summer.

Now, Bailey has provided an update on the situation, and he doesn’t expect Nwaneri to commit his future to the Gunners.

Nwaneri is tipped to have his pick of the world’s best clubs, with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool “on his doorstep”.

Bailey exclusively told TBR Football: “With Raheem Sterling leaving, that does open up the right hand side, but the real concern for Arsenal is obviously Nwaneri.

“I think they’re going to lose him. Yeah, it’s looking very, very bad for them in that area – and it’s nothing to do with the finances or anything.

“I’m told he’s got his pick of clubs around Europe when he’s out of contract next summer.

“Nwaneri will be one of the most wanted players. If he gets to next summer and he hasn’t signed his contract, he’ll literally have his pick of clubs from around the world.

“He’s loved around Europe. He’s loved in England, you know. He will have Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City. He will have them all on his doorstep.”

How Ben White has already rung Ethan Nwaneri alarm bell

White recently took part in Sky Sports’ Word Association programme, in which guests use one word to describe teammates and other topics.

When it came to Nwaneri, White described him as “special” and revealed that he’s probably the player who trains the hardest on a day-to-day basis.

However, White also rang an alarm bell of sorts, admitting that Nwaneri is in an “unfortunate” situation because of who is in front of him in the pecking order.

“I think it’s unfortunate that obviously you’ve got Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard in his position,” White said.

“But yeah, he’s so good in training, he’s literally probably the best trainer every day.

“His technical levels are the best and he’s got so much to learn and do – it’s just crazy.”
