Arsenal target Moussa Dembele lauded by John Hartson in 2018
Arsenal’s search for a new striker has prompted the Gunners to consider a move for Moussa Dembele, on Tuesday that Mikel Arteta is keen on the Frenchman.
Dembele is facing an incredibly uncertain future heading into the summer. The 24-year-old is currently on loan with Atletico Madrid, who have the option to make the move permanent for £30 million.
However, he has struggled to make an impact in Spain. So he could be sold elsewhere. , Arsenal are eyeing a move with Lyon potentially open to a £25 million deal.
On the basis of his form with Atleti, you could understand why Arsenal fans may have their concerns about a potential move.
But his overall record throughout his career is outstanding. He scored 32 times in his first year at Celtic. And he has got at least 20 goals in both of his full seasons with Lyon.
One man who may be delighted to hear that Arsenal want Dembele is John Hartson. The Welshman enjoyed a hugely successful spell at Celtic in his career.
And in 2018, he made a big claim concerning Dembele’s potential.
“I think he can go as high as he wants to,” . “How old is he, 21? Physically, he’s got it, he can cope with the demands of the Premier League [in England]. He’s been called up at senior level by France. They know all about him. He’ll be on the radar of a lot of clubs; it’s just a case of Celtic getting as much as they can for him.”
His lack of recent success is certainly a worry. He had only scored once this season before his switch to the Spanish capital.
But if Arsenal are able to sign Dembele and manage to get the best out of him, there is no question that a deal has the potential to prove an absolute masterstroke.
