Arsenal simply cannot afford to sign 25-year-old striker Folarin Balogun said is ‘world class’

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal cannot afford to bring Victor Osimhen to the Emirates Stadium in the January transfer window.

That is according to The Independent, which has named the alternative striker Arsenal are planning to bid for in January.

So, what has been reported about Arsenal and Victor Osimhen? Let’s take a look.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen too expensive for Arsenal

Well, according to , Arsenal are interested in Napoli star Victor Osimhen. The Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker in the January transfer window, and the Nigeria international is among the names being mentioned.

However, the 25-year-old is too expensive for Arsenal in January. Osimhen has a release clause of £120 million in his contract, and, that, according to The Independent, is “completely out of the London club’s price range, for January at least”.

Arsenal fans, though, will be pleased to know that Arsenal do have an alternative striker in mind. The Independent claims that the Gunners are now trying to determine if they can complete a deal for Brentford star Ivan Toney, who has been tipped for Chelsea.

Manager Mikel Arteta personally wants the 27-year-old. Arsenal would prefer to do a deal in January. Brentford want £80 million for the England international striker.

My View: Victor Osimhen better option than Ivan Toney for Arsenal

In my opinion, Arsenal would be better off waiting until the summer of 2024 and signing Victor Osimhen than bringing in Ivan Toney in the January transfer window.

Toney will cost £80 million in transfer fees in January. I think that it is too expensive for a striker who has not played in the UEFA Champions League or turned out for an ‘elite’ club.

Moreover, the Englishman has not played at all so far this season due to a ban. Yes, he has been training, but it is not the same as playing week in and week out.

Osimhen is 25 now and has his best years ahead of him. The Nigerian was a leading figure for Napoli last season as they won Serie A. He is scoring goals in this campaign as well. According to , Osimhen is “world class”.

The striker has scored seven goals and given two assists in 11 Serie A starts this season. Osimhen scored 26 goals and provided four assists in 30 league starts in the last campaign.
