Arsenal should rival Chelsea for Brighton defender who sees John Terry as a role model
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will undoubtedly be looking for new signings during January. The new boss will be seeking to stamp his own authority on the team and a couple of players will help him do that.
The Gunners are tenth in the Premier League and an upturn in fortunes is badly needed. Arsenal have been nothing short of a disaster defensively this season and that must be an area of concern.
It has been reported that Chelsea are keen to sign Brighton defender Lewis Dunk who is valued at £50 million

If the Seagulls would consider selling their star defensive performer then Arsenal would be wise to enter the race for his signature.
The 28-year-old is Brighton’s captain and the price seems reasonable for the service he has given to the club. He has played 290 times for the Seagulls having risen through the ranks.
Arsenal tried to cure their defensive concerns by signing David Luiz in the summer. The Brazilian is getting better but the Gunners are still conceding too many goals.
Dunk would help the Gunners no end at the back. He is a real leader of men and is calmness personified when it comes to the pressure of a matchday.
Ambitious
Arsenal might not have £50 million to spend during this month but if they can raise the funds he’d be a tremendous addition.

claims that Dunk’s idol is John Terry and there are similarities between the two. Given his age, it’s unlikely he will emulate the career of the ex-Chelsea skipper but he’s strong, can pass the ball and constantly puts his head where it hurts.
Given Arsenal’s decrease in stature in recent years, they may struggle to attract the world’s elite players.
Arteta is lacking leaders and competent defenders, however, and Dunk addresses both issues.
