Arsenal should pull out the stops to sign striker loved by Lionel Messi – TBR View

Arsenal will almost certainly be in the mix for a striker in the summer. A man worshipped by Lionel Messi himself has to be right at the top of their wish list.

Luka Jovic looks like a man who is on borrowed time at Real Madrid. The 23-year-old has made just 11 appearances for Los Blancos in two seasons and could be on his way out.

Last season he was on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt. He fired four times in 18 games and desperately needs to rediscover some confidence.

He has played in just 60 minutes of Real Madrid’s La Liga season so far and looks out of favour under Carlo Ancelotti.

Madrid parted with £52 million for the striker in 2019 and he’s unlikely to come overly cheap. With the financial situation at Madrid under scrutiny, however, there could be possibilities.

Arsenal look set to lose Alexandre Lacazette in the summer. He will be out of contract and an extension doesn’t look to be forthcoming.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still at the club, of course, although he isn’t getting any younger.

With that in mind, a younger striker would be ideal and Jovic could be Arsenal’s talisman for years to come.

What did Messi say about Jovic and would he excite at Arsenal?

Back in September 2020, the PSG star claimed he was ‘ and that would surely delight Arsenal fans.

Jovic has scored goals in his career and although the move to Real Madrid hasn’t really worked out, that doesn’t make him a bad player.

Arsenal have turned a mini corner under Mikel Arteta. If he can lead the team back into Europe next season then signing someone like Jovic could be a possibility.

Jovic earns around at the Bernabeu and with Lacazette likely to go, that salary shouldn’t deter Arsenal.

There’s no saying that Arsenal are even interested at this stage. They should be though and Jovic could illuminate the Emirates Stadium next season.
