Arsenal should be able to sign £50m winger in ‘easy’ deal this summer
Arsenal could be set for a big summer transfer window.
Arsenal will sign a striker this summer according to Fabrizio Romano, while the Gunners already have one signing lined up in the shape of Martin Zubimendi.
On top of that, Arsenal also want a new winger.
Nico Williams has been linked to Arsenal, but some have questioned whether Arsenal can afford the £50m man due to his hefty wages.
However, according to Steve Kay, speaking on KS1 TV, Arsenal should be able to secure a move for Nico Williams with relative ease, claiming that the winger is the Gunners’ top target.

Arsenal should sign Nico Williams in easy deal
Kay shared what he knows about Williams and Arsenal’s interest in the Athletic Bilbao star.
According to the journalist, Williams is still a key target for Arsenal, and, contrary to some reporting, this deal should be rather easy to do.
“He’s still a target, he’s still the biggest target, Arteta loves him, they want him, it’s an easy thing. People keep saying about the money and if Arsenal can afford him, Arsenal can afford him,” Kay said.
“I’ve seen things about Arsenal’s wages and how they can’t afford Nico Williams, it’s absolute nonsense. People keep saying he’s on a mega amount of money, it’s not that much money, if he came in at Arsenal, he’d be the sixth or seventh highest wages at Arsenal.
“A player of Williams’ ability, that’s not a problem for Arsenal.”
Nico Williams compared to Arsenal’s top earners
Kay says that Arsenal shouldn’t have much of a problem paying Williams’ wages, and that does add up.
Indeed, while Williams is earning a lot of money for Athletic Bilbao’s standards, top Premier League clubs can afford to dish out much higher salaries.
As Kay says, Williams wouldn’t be among Arsenal’s highest earners on his current salary.
Nico Williams compared to Arsenal’s top earners | Weekly wage |
1. Kai Havertz | £280,000 |
2. Gabriel Jesus | £265,000 |
3. Martin Odegaard | £240,000 |
4. Declan Rice | £240,000 |
5. Thomas Partey | £200,000 |
6. Bukayo Saka | £195,000 |
7. William Saliba | £190,000 |
8. Gabriel Martinelli | £180,000 |
9. Nico Williams | £171,000 |
Of course, the Spaniard would likely want a payrise if he were to head to the Emirates, but it would appear there is room for that in Arsenal’s wage structure, particularly if Thomas Partey leaves the club.
Partey has been linked with a move, while Oleksandr Zinchenko could also leave, freeing up another £150k-a-week for the Gunners.
Williams could well be on his way to north London this summer.
