Arsenal preparing their opening bid for ‘incredible’ player following Mikel Arteta’s approval
Arsenal’s summer arrivals could be set to double over the coming days as the Gunners look to push in their pursuit of signing number two.
After weeks of negotiations, Arsenal were able to secure the signing of Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.
Mikel Arteta‘s plans for the new season will be coming together at London Colney following their tour of the United States.
The Arsenal boss did not have any new players to experiment with during their trip across the pond with Calafiori arriving late in the visit.
However, Arteta now has less than two weeks before the new season kicks off as Arsenal now prepare their first bid for one of their top targets.

Arsenal preparing £25.7m bid for ‘incredible’ player
It has to be said, none of the Premier League’s top three from last season has done much business so far in the window.
Manchester City have only brought in one player with Savinho and Liverpool are yet to even do that.
So, considering this, Arsenal’s business does not look so bad considering they have landed themselves one of the most in-demand defenders across Europe.
But adding another star from this summer’s Euros would be a real statement for the north London club.
According to , Arsenal are now plotting a €30m (£25.7m) bid for Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino.
The Spain international has now returned to training with Sociedad following his delayed summer break due to the Euros.
This is a move which Arteta has reportedly approved Edu Gaspar to make this summer with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Barcelona also showing a keen interest.
With around four weeks remaining in the window, those in Spain are expecting this to be a big saga in the transfer window.
Mikel Merino is high on Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal wishlist
Having bolstered the defence with the addition of Calafiori, Arsenal could land themselves a real statement signing for their midfielder with Merino.
As the report states, Arteta has already greenlit this move with the Spaniard keen to bring in his compatriot.
And it is of little surprise given Merino has been hailed as ‘incredible‘ with a really impressive Euro 2024 behind him this summer.
The player has returned to training with Sociedad which is testament to his character, but Arsenal will be hoping this does not turn out in the same drawn-out fashion their deal for Calafiori did.
