Arsenal ‘prepared to offer’ new deal to player who starred against Real Madrid

Thomas Partey’s future at the club remains uncertain ahead of the summer transfer window.

Partey has established himself as a key player for Arsenal, who have done so well in recent seasons.

This season in particular, he has performed at the highest level, forming a solid partnership in the midfield alongside Declan Rice.

But with his contract expiring at the end of the season, and no indications of a new contract being offered as yet, his future remains a talking point with several clubs showing interest in signing Partey, including Barcelona.

Recent reports, however, have suggested that Arsenal are set to make a U-turn on Partey with the club now open to keeping him.

Arsenal ready to offer new deal to Thomas Partey

According to the latest from Fabrizio Romano, the Gunners are ‘prepared to offer’ a new contract to their midfield powerhouse, in what is a change of stance from the club.

However, it is suggested that the salary structure in the new deal will be different compared to the existing contract.

With Mikel Arteta keen on keeping him, Partey is said to be assessing all his options before making a decision.

Thomas Partey’s performances by numbers against Real Madrid

The Ghanian remains a top-class midfielder as proven by his performances against Real Madrid most recently.

The 31-year-old was instrumental in Arsenal dismantling Real Madrid over the two-legs of the quarter-final.

In the first-leg, he completed 94% of his passes (61/65), contributed a combined xG+xA of 0.56, and was a constant defensive presence with six recoveries, four duels won, and four defensive actions.

The second-leg saw him put on another solid defensive show, with three blocks, three clearances, one headed clearance one interceptions and three recoveries.

Arsenal are expected to sign Martín Zubimendi in the summer, which could potentially have an impact on Partey’s place in the starting XI.

However, there is no doubt that keeping him would be huge for the club given that his impact goes beyond his performances on the pitch.
