Arsenal planning on making three more signings after Riccardo Calafiori deal is finalised

It now seems as if Arsenal are only a few days or perhaps even hours away from the coveted arrival of Riccardo Calafiori in north London.

Arsenal’s pursuit of Calafiori has been delayed and complicated because of negotiations between Bologna and Basel, who agreed a hefty sell-on percentage in the past.

But ultimately that won’t be a concern for Mikel Arteta and his team, who look set to welcome one of the most exciting talents who emerged at this summer’s Euros.

Calafiori should undergo his Arsenal medical shortly, and then Edu and his transfer team will quickly turn their attention elsewhere.

But after Arsenal have announced the signing of the Italian – where do they turn next?

Fortunately, have now explained, saying that Arsenal will be targeting at least three more deals.

According to the report, Arsenal still plan to recruit a new midfielder, another forward and then there’s the club’s desire to bolster their goalkeeping department.

Mikel Merino tops Arsenal’s midfield wishlist

In terms of a midfielder, Arsenal have been in contact to sign Mikel Merino – a name which will now be very familiar with the club’s fan base.

Otherwise, Benfica’s Joao Neves has been of interest.

However, Paris Saint-Germain look to be beating Arsenal to Neves – who was perhaps considered too expensive for the Gunners this summer.

And aside from the duo mentioned above, it’s still not entirely impossible that Arsenal revive their interest in Martin Zubimendi.

Zubimendi hasn’t been hot on joining Arsenal, but may still be persuaded later in the window.

Could Arsenal sign Brian Brobbey from Ajax?

In terms of signing a forward, it now feels as if it was a long time ago that Arsenal were chasing Benjamin Sesko.

At the time, the Gunners were linked with a host of centre-forwards, with it believed that Arteta wanted to add goals to his team.

Arsenal were also linked with Brian Brobbey, who could still turn out to be a more achievable alternative to Sesko and Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak.

Of course, if it’s a winger that the club decides to chase, Arteta has decided he wants Nico Williams at Arsenal

Although, Barcelona are now ‘putting all of their energy’ into signing Williams
