Arsenal plan to reject bid for their £40m player from Premier League club

Arsenal have been fairly quiet on the transfer front this summer, with no signings over the line just yet.

The Gunners are said to be in talks over Bologna’s Riccardo Calafiori, but things have slowed down on that front for the time being.

Arsenal have been a bit busier in terms of outgoings, with Gunners duo Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga moving away on initial loan deals.

There are other players whose future at Arsenal is uncertain, with interest coming from various quarters including the Premier League.

A report has now emerged claiming the Gunners are set to reject a bid from a London rival for a Hale End graduate who has struggled for game time lately.

Arsenal expected to reject Crystal Palace offer for Emile Smith Rowe

The player in question is Emile Smith Rowe and, according to , Crystal Palace are preparing an offer of £30million plus add-ons for the Arsenal man.

However, the Gunners are expected to reject the Eagles’ offer, just like they rejected the £30million bid made by Fulham earlier this week.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is understood to want to keep Smith Rowe at the Emirates, despite using the £40million-rated player sparingly last season.

Smith Rowe and Arsenal both have tough decision to make

It’s good to hear that Arteta is keen to keep Smith Rowe at Arsenal. It shows that he still values the player, who may well still have a chance of coming good at N5.

At the same time, the 23-year-old struggled for game time last term, and he’s at an age where he really needs to be playing regularly. He certainly has the talent for it.

The article in The Guardian did also say that Arteta is yet to properly decide on the “exceptional” talent’s future, so it looks as though the Arsenal manager may still be in two minds.

Things will surely become clearer over the coming weeks. If Smith Rowe impresses during pre-season, then there’s a good chance Arteta will be more keen to keep hold of him.
