Arsenal once held conversations to sign ‘amazing’ player, now he’s set to join Tottenham
Radu Dragusin is reportedly on the verge of joining Tottenham, yet things could have been different had Arsenal got their way with the Romanian international.
Reports this morning suggest that Spurs have reached an agreement to sign Dragusin, with the 21-year-old centre-back set to become Tottenham’s signing of the January window after Timo Werner.
Lauded as an ‘amazing’ defender, the north London side have seemingly landed themselves quite the player in Dragusin, who will add long-term defensive cover for Tottenham.
Yet things could have been a lot different had Arsenal made a bigger effort to sign Dragusin, with agent Florin Manea once claiming that Mikel Arteta’s side were once in talks to sign the Romanian talent.
Arsenal once almost signed Tottenham-bound Radu Dragusin

In an , Manea publically claimed that Arsenal had been in talks with Dragusin over a potential deal, with Newcastle United also holding conversations with the Genoa defender.
The agent said in November of last year: “I have been in London for some time and have almost weekly meetings with important teams. We are getting closer.
“I spoke with Newcastle, with Arsenal, with Tottenham. I also have messages with them, conversations. There are teams that ask.
“I want to say that, 100% by next summer, Radu will play for a very big club. One in the top 10 in the world. He wants to be in the Premier League, but I know that Milan like him a lot. I talked to the people there.”
Tottenham now have the last laugh after January swoop

With Tottenham winning the race to sign Dragusin this month, Spurs ultimately have the last laugh when it comes to landing the Serie A centre-back.
The defender has been highly sought after for some time, and with Tottenham now beating their north London rivals to Dragusin’s signature, the transfer victory will feel that little extra sweeter for Ange Postecoglou.
