Arsenal on the verge of signing ‘powerful’ player with all aspects ‘resolved’

Arsenal could complete their second signing of the summer very ‘soon’.

The Gunners’ only arrival in this window so far has been David Raya, whose loan was turned into a permanent deal earlier in July.

Arsenal could still do with reinforcements in multiple areas of their pitch, and Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are working hard behind the scenes to bring new players in.

The new Premier League season is less than a month away and Arsenal fans are hoping to see some new names as soon as possible.

There is now some good news for Gunners supporters.

Riccardo Calafiori to Arsenal transfer update

It is no secret at this point that Arsenal are keen to sign Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna.

The ‘‘ Italian defender is one of Arteta’s key targets in this window, and the Gunners have been pushing to sign him for about a month now.

Reports revealed recently that Arsenal have reached an agreement to sign Calafiori and personal terms have been agreed too.

However, there was one final step that was holding up Arsenal’s deal to sign Calafiori – an agreement between Bologna and Basel over the payment structure of the money owed to the Swiss club.

Arsenal fans have been waiting patiently for that to be done, and if Rudy Galetti is to be believed, all aspects of the deal have now been ‘resolved’.

The Gunners are now on the verge of signing Calafiori and medicals are expected to take place in the coming days before the deal can be made official.

Galetti tweeted: “Calafiori is now set to join Arsenal from Bologna. After some difficulties in negotiating last week, all aspects have been resolved.

“Transfer fee slightly >€50m, bonuses included. Personal terms already agreed (5-y, ~€4m), medicals expected soon.”

Who is Arsenal’s next top target after Calafiori?

Arsenal fans should be delighted that the Calafiori deal is about to be completed.

The Italian is a phenomenal player, and he will solve many of the issues the Gunners had on their left side. He is an upgrade on both Jakub Kiwior and Oleksandr Zinchenko because he’s solid at both ends of the pitch.

With their defence sorted, Arsenal are expected to move on to the next task on their list, and that is to sign a new midfielder.

Reports have revealed that Arsenal have made Mikel Merino their top target, and they have already met with his agents to discuss a potential move.

If the Gunners can get both Calafiori and Merino, they will start the 2024/25 season in a much stronger position than they ended the previous campaign.
