Report: Arsenal now offered the chance to sign Vlahovic’s teammate who Messi called ‘magical’

According to a report from the Arsenal have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid striker, Luka Jovic, during the January transfer window.

The Gunners are desperately seeking a new forward before the end of the month. As we all know, their efforts have been focussed on landing Dusan Vlahovic from Fiorentina. However, the Serbian striker looks to be out of reach as each day passes by, with Vlahovic set to keep his options open until the summer.

And according to the , Jovic is one of the names that has been put to Arsenal as a potential alternative to Vlahovic. Jovic, 24, has struggled massively since signing for Madrid for more than £50m. This season, he has just a single goal to his name in his appearances.

The Standard does mention that sources close to Jovic claim there has been no talks with Arsenal. However, it does suggest that Madrid are actively shopping the Serbian forward.

Jovic earned a move to Real after seriously impressing in Germany with Frankfurt. He scored 40 goals in for the Bundesliga side. However, things have gone awry since that big move to the Spanish capital.

TBR’s View: Jovic Surely A Last Option For Arsenal

This would be a bit bitter for the Gunners fans. They spend all winter chasing Serbia’s number one striker, only to end up being left with his teammate. Not that Jovic is a bad player, but he’s certainly no Vlahovic.

Arsenal would surely see Jovic as a last ditch signing. The other names mentioned, such as Isak, Calvert-Lewin, and more would make more sense at the moment.

Of course, Jovic – who Lionel Messi ‘magical’ in 2020 – might do well. But the signing would fall a bit flat, especially given his record in recent times has been nothing short of miserable.
