has claimed in an interview that Arsenal are now interested in signing Southampton defender Tino Livramento this summer.

The Gunners are still battling hard to get into the top four this season and their impressive recent win at Chelsea has put them right back into the mix.

If Arsenal win all of their remaining fixtures, they will qualify for the Champions League, and that would be a remarkable achievement considering where they were after the first three games of this campaign.

Irrespective of where they will finish this season, Arsenal are expected to have a big summer transfer window and they now have a surprise new name on their wish list.

Mikel Arteta adds Tino Livramento to Arsenal’s transfer wish list

In the summer transfer window, Arsenal will need two new strikers, a central midfielder, a wide player and potentially even a right-back if Cedric Soares leaves the club.

Jacobs, in an , revealed the players Arteta is looking to sign this summer, and the surprise name on the list is Southampton star Livramento.

The CBS Sports journalist said: “Both Arteta and Edu would love to bring Lille’s Jonathan David to the Emirates Stadium but Dominic Calvert-Lewin might be a more realistic target.

“Arsenal have also been in talks for around a year with Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans and Southampton defender Tino Livramento is also on Arteta’s wish list.”

Walcott thinks Tino’s the new Gareth Bale

Livramento only joined Southampton from Chelsea last summer but he has made a terrific name for himself already. The youngster has impressed everyone, including ex-Arsenal star Theo Walcott, who sees a bit of Gareth Bale in the 19-year-old.

Walcott told : “Do you know what, he reminds me a little bit of Gareth (Bale) when he came through as a full-back.

“That’s a big statement, of course, to compare him to someone like that but just feel like his presence and the way he drives and the pace and the power and it’s no surprise that you know what he’s going to do. He’s so strong with the ball and very clever and technically he is fantastic. I feel he will have a very good career.”

Arteta knows Walcott very well having played with him at Arsenal, and the Englishman’s recommendation may well be the reason why the Gunners boss wants to sign Livramento this summer.
