Arsenal now want £17m midfielder who has been compared to Xavi
Arsenal have enjoyed a fruitful season so far that could yet end with glory, and better still, it looks like the Gunners are just at the start of their journey.
Mikel Arteta and Edu have built a superb team that is not only packed full of talent, but also boasts the right attitude.
As a result, Arsenal remain top of the Premier League table and are in with a chance of reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The Gunners camp aren’t likely to rest on their laurels this summer, and there’s a good chance we could see some more signings through the N5 doors.
Now, according to a report from , Arsenal have set their sights on a midfielder who was once compared to Xavi.

The report claims that the Gunners are keen to sign Brazil international Arthur Melo this summer after Juventus put him up for sale.
Juve are apparently willing to accept just €20million (£17million) to offload Arthur, who is currently out on loan at Fiorentina.
The Viola have an option to make the move permanent, but it remains to be seen whether they choose to proceed with buying him.
As well as Arsenal, the likes of West Ham United and Everton are apparently keeping tabs on Arthur.
What has been said about Arsenal target Arthur Melo?
The Gunners have an opportunity to get themselves a high-quality player once tipped for stardom at a bargain price.
Arthur has endured a difficult time at Juve since they signed him from Barcelona for around £73million in 2020.
The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Liverpool, but injuries sadly stopped him from being able to make an impact.
However, Arthur has returned to his best form at Fiorentina, with 37 appearances under his belt this term.
The midfielder’s potential was immense and he earned praise from some of Barcelona’s big names.
Lionel Messi the Brazilian to Xavi, Andres Iniesta him “exceptional”, and Thomas Vermaelen he’s “incredible”.
Messi told Marca in 2018: Arthur has surprised me as I didn’t really know him.
“He is very similar to Xavi as he likes to have the ball, play short, not lose it and is very solid.
“He surprised me but I like them all. Arthur has the style we have here, he understood quickly in training.”
Let’s see whether Arsenal continue to like what they see from Arthur in the coming weeks.
Hopefully they’ll give him a second chance in the Premier League, where he can prove himself after last year’s difficult stint at Liverpool.
