Arsenal face having to pay extra money to sign ‘excellent’ player as his asking price has risen

Arsenal are back in action on the weekend where they will be hoping to continue their perfect start to the new season.

It has been a positive week fro Mikel Arteta who saw his Arsenal side come away with all three points in their season opener.

The Gunners have also made some big steps in the transfer window when it comes to landing their second signing of the window.

A deal is now in place for Arsenal to sign Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad after weeks and weeks of negotiations.

But there is no time for Edu Gaspar to settle with seven days now remaining until the window shuts until January.

However, it seems as if Arsenal have already identified their next potential signing in the ‘excellent’ Joan Garcia as the Gunners eye a new backup goalkeeper.

Arsenal now informed of £30m asking price for potential third signing

For Arsenal, the final week of the window could also see a number of players depart the club with the likes of Aaron Ramsdale set to depart.

Ramsdale has received interest from the likes of Bournemouth and Wolves already this summer with his future at Arsenal in doubt.

However, Arsenal have now been told his potential replacement has now had his asking price raised.

Arsenal are showing an interest in Espanyol’s goalkeeper Garcia, but a deal may no longer be so straightforward for the north London club.

Speaking on , journalist Duncan Castles has claimed Espanyol have now raised the goalkeeper’s valuation to £30m.

“You mentioned Joan Garcia, Espanyol there who Arsenal are trying to bring in,” he said.

“My guidance from the Spanish club is that they referred Arsenal to the players’ release clause when they contacted him, which is €30m (£25m), but has now gone up to €35m (£30m) as he’s in the last 10 days of the window.”

Arsenal could fund Joan Garcia by selling Aaron Ramsdale

Ironically, Arsenal are believed to be asking for around £30m for Ramsdale’s signature this summer.

So, in theory, Arsenal could fund a deal for Garcia if they are to offload Ramsdale in a sale but time is running out to orchestrate these two scenrarios.

It also has to be mentioned that Arsenal are receiving a lot of interest in Ramsdale but some of it is for clubs to bring him in on a loan basis.

And that is something which Arsenal could do without – given they need a replacement – unless the deal was to include an obligation to buy next summer.
