Arsenal now reportedly want to sign ‘unbelievably entertaining’ £47m star likened to Mesut Ozil

Arsenal have reportedly set their sights on Barcelona’s Ferran Torres ahead of the January transfer window.

According to , the Gunners are eyeing the Spain international as a potential Gabriel Jesus replacement.

As well as Arsenal, the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan are apparently after Torres too.

from Manchester City last January.

He was an important player for Barcelona in the second-half of last season.

However, Torres has since slipped down the pecking order, and has just six La Liga starts this term.

This, alongside Barcelona’s financial situation, means Torres may well be available during the January window.

In addition, the attacking talent has connections to several Arsenal figures.

Torres worked under Mikel Arteta while the Arsenal manager was still a coach at Manchester City.

He has also worked with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus in the past.

If Barca are willing to sell Torres and Arsenal can strike a deal, they’d be getting their hands on a top talent.

‘He can be truly mesmeric’

In 2019, deemed Torres one of the best young talents in the world.

‘Ferrán is so unbelievably entertaining to watch,’ they wrote.

‘Like Raheem Sterling or Mesut Özil, he is one of those players that has a run – a gait, even – that oozes class before he even touches the ball.

‘When the ball does reach him, he can be truly mesmeric.

‘He makes some of the simplest passes and touches look aesthetically delightful, while he roams around the pitch in a way that suggests he has more time and space than he does.

‘He is also delightfully agile, capable of twisting, turning and contorting as he weaves his way around defenders. All lovely to watch.’

Torres has certainly lived up to the hype and would no doubt arrive at Arsenal to much fanfare if they can strike a deal.
