Arsenal now reportedly want ‘dangerous’ £25m playmaker who’s been compared to Andrea Pirlo
Arsenal have been linked with Inter Milan’s Hakan Calhanoglu in recent days.
According to , both the Gunners and Aston Villa have set sights on the 28-year-old playmaker.
Calhanoglu’s current contract runs until 2024 and Inter are apparently not planning to sell him in the upcoming window.

However, an offer of around £25million could potentially ‘shake’ Inter chairman Steven Zhang into a change of stance.
The outlet notes that English clubs could now turn to Calhanoglu in the event that Ismael Bennacer renews his deal with AC Milan.
Arsenal are reportedly on the lookout for reinforcements in midfield after failing to land Douglas Luiz in the summer.
The Gunners are flying high in the Premier League and Europa League, but they must not rest on their laurels.
Calhanoglu wouldn’t be a bad shout for Arsenal. He is a talented and experienced player who’s superb at set-pieces.
This season, he has scored three goals and registered five assists in 20 appearances from centre-midfield.
‘A breath of fresh air’
Scouting website wrote an in-depth analysis of Calhanoglu during the 2020-21 season. Here is an excerpt.
‘Calhanoglu’s distribution and shooting are stand-out,’ they wrote.
‘He, moreover, has a distinguished understanding of when to change directions when on the ball. This makes him especially dangerous in central half-spaces in the opposition half as defenders find it hard to close in on him.
‘Notably, his defensive contribution often goes unnoticed and provides an integral fluidity between… defence and attack.
‘Studying Calhanoglu’s style of play is certainly a breath of fresh air.

‘His command over the ball in conjunction with the risks he takes puts him alongside the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Jack Grealish although he has struggled to match them for output this season.
‘(Calhanoglu’s) ability to influence proceedings, in particular the tempo, over the past year has made him a bit of a cult-favourite.
‘His ball-striking is also very special and when you consider how the likes of Beckham and Pirlo were able to entrance the world with the beauty of their kicking, the Turk is blessed with a similar aesthetic elegance in the way he produces passes and shots on goal.’
