Arsenal in concrete talks to sign one of ‘the game’s top young talents’

Arsenal have set their sights on signing a new striker this summer after the lack of a No. 9 proved costly over the course of last season.

The Gunners finished empty-handed in 2024/25, and the likes of Ian Wright and Chris Sutton said Arsenal’s recruitment was largely to blame.

However, Arsenal director Andrea Berta has wasted no time in identifying targets, so much so that some of Europe’s elites feel they’ll struggle to compete.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Arsenal have begun “concrete talks” to sign a player deemed one of Europe’s best young strikers.

Fabrizio Romano says Arsenal plotting ‘concrete talks’ for Benjamin Sesko

Romano has taken to X to claim that Arsenal have got the ball rolling in pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

The transfer insider said Sesko has always been high on Arsenal’s wishlist as he recalled previous attempts by the Gunners to strike a deal.

However, Romano has now claimed that Sesko “will leave” this summer and Arsenal are “on it”.

Why Benjamin Sesko would be a good fit for Arsenal

Sesko is a good fit for Arsenal because he strikes the right balance between quality, potential, suitability for the Premier League, and price.

At 21, Sesko is still at the start of his career and can still become a lot better, but he has already proven himself at the highest level.

Leipzig technical director Christopher Vivell previously said, as per the Bundesliga : “Benjamin Sesko is among the game’s top young talents and has enormous potential to become a top player.

“He has all the qualities to do that. He’s extremely quick, has a great jump on him and is strong in the air.

“Benjamin is a real goalscorer, who despite his 1.95m (6’4″) is mobile and technically strong. His abilities make him a special player with a special profile.”

Sesko also has a £58million release clause in the new contract that he signed last summer, making him cheaper than the likes of Alexander Isak.
