Arsenal now have ‘genuine belief’ they can land £75m star, he’s Mikel Arteta’s ‘dream’ signing

Arsenal’s summer transfer window is beginning to gather pace courtesy of strong work behind the scenes by new sporting director Andrea Berta.

Mikel Arteta’s side are on the cusp of confirming one or two deals, and Arsenal should have a strengthened squad for the start of pre-season.

Arsenal fans will predominantly be concerned with the attacking players Berta is able to bring to the club before the end of August.

Arsenal are ‘making progress’ on the striker hunt, a situation that TBR Football are keeping abreast of.

As things stand, Arsenal are leaning towards choosing Benjamin Sesko over Viktor Gyokeres, but it is still very much a two-horse race.

However, when it comes to the left winger the Gunners want to recruit, a ‘dream’ target has now emerged.

Rodrygo is about to tell Real Madrid he wants to leave amid Arsenal interest

Chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has now provided an update on Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, a player both Berta and Arteta would love to sign this summer.

Rodrygo is currently away with Madrid at the Club World Cup, but once the tournament ends, a move to Arsenal could become a real possibility.

Explaining the situation as it stands, Bailey said: “I think Rodrygo is quickly emerging as Arsenal’s dream target.

“From what I’m hearing from people close to the situation, once Real Madrid get back from the Club World Cup, Rodrygo is going to make it clear that he wants to leave.

“I think Rodrygo’s situation is going to come to a head, I think Madrid will confirm Vinicius Junior’s new contract once they are back, which is already in place.

“Arda Guler, as we spoke about before, is a player who Xabi Alonso loves and we’ve seen that at the Club World Cup.

“It’s not that Alonso dislikes Rodrygo or anything, but you know, you’ve got Franco Mastantuano coming who we understand will play on the wing, probably on the right.

“I think everything points towards Rodrygo leaving and my belief is that Arsenal will be towards the top of his desired places to go.

“Arsenal know what kind of fee it will take to sign Rodrygo, around £75m, they know about his wages, and that hasn’t scared them off one bit.

“It would be a huge feather in Berta’s cap to sign Rodrygo, and there’s a genuine belief within the Arsenal camp that the Brazilian would be an outstanding fit.

“But that doesn’t stop Arsenal from bringing in two wide players, I think there is a real possibility that they do that.”

Arsenal’s front three might look very different next season

There’s a genuine hope in North London that Arsenal will be able to sign both Sesko and Rodrygo this summer, perhaps in addition to even more attacking talent.

TBR Football previously revealed that Arsenal asked about Eberechi Eze at Crystal Palace, and it’s not impossible that he’s signed in addition to the names mentioned.

Arsenal clearly have big ambitions this summer, hence why they’ve brought Berta to the club.

And in the early days of Arsenal under Berta’s guidance, it’s clear that the Gunners will be covering all bases when they look to the transfer market.

To that end, Nottingham Forest’s Anthony Elanga is on Arsenal’s radar right now, but he’s just one of many talented names being considered.
