Arsenal now close to signing £17m Liverpool target, the deal will see £20m player leave

TBR Football can now exclusively reveal that Arsenal are close to making another signing in addition to Christian Norgaard.

The Gunners are set to announce the £10m arrival of the Denmark international from Brentford after personal terms were agreed, providing Mikel Arteta with a new central midfielder.

Now, as Christian Norgaard prepares to join, TBR Football understand Arsenal are close to signing the Dane’s namesake (albeit spelt differently) as a deal for Cristhian Mosquera nears completion.

Arsenal close in on Cristhian Mosquera

Graeme Bailey – Chief Correspondent for TBR Football – has now been told that Arsenal are set to sign the Spaniard.

We understand advanced talks are taking place between Arsenal and Valencia for Mosquera – who played at the European U21 Championship this summer – and discussions are proving to be positive.

Negotiations are specifically structured around Arsenal paying the fee in instalments.

Mosquera – who Arsenal scouted as far back as November – has a €20m (£17m) release clause written into his contract, although Andrea Berta is working to agree a sum below that amount.

The central defender recently rejected the offer of a new contract which would have significantly increased that release clause, leaving Valencia in a difficult situation, with his current terms set to expire in June 2026.

TBR Football understand Liverpool also have Mosquera on their radar as Arne Slot hopes to sign a new central defender, amid interest in Marc Guehi as well.

Bournemouth are also keen on the Valencia No.3 after losing Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid.

Jakub Kiwior is set to leave Arsenal

The arrival of Mosquera is set to signal the departure of Jakub Kiwior.

Sources state that the Poland international – who Arsenal signed from Spezia for £20m in January 2023 – is prioritising a return to Italy as he prepares to leave the Emirates Stadium.

Kiwior only made ten Premier League appearances last season, and Arteta has now decided to replace the Pole with Mosquera.
