Reported Arsenal target Nick Pope is ideal replacement for outgoing star

It looks set to be an interesting summer for Arsenal as Unai Emery looks to considerably balance the books.

the Gunners boss will have just £45 million to spend during the close season.

Given that Arsenal have looked suspect at times during 2018/19, things don’t really bode well for the Gunners next season either.

With the Manchester clubs, Liverpool and Chelsea all likely to spend heavily again, Emery could see his side left behind.

Legendary goalkeeper Petr Cech is set to retire during the summer and a replacement will be necessary.

Burnley stopper Nick Pope is firmly on Arsenal’s radar,

Pope has fallen down the pecking order at Turf Moor behind Tom Heaton and Joe Hart.

The England man dislocated his shoulder in a Europa League qualifier at the start of the campaign and has lost his place in the side.

Clarets boss Sean Dyche will let one of his keepers go and that could alert the Gunners towards Pope.

The 26-year-old was in the form of his life prior to his injury and he would represent an ideal replacement for Cech.

Similar style

He is at an age where he could become the club’s first choice stopper for the next ten years, whilst he wouldn’t break the bank.

His strong attributes are also very similar to that of Cech.

Both command the penalty area with aplomb and Pope, in particular, showcased superb agility before his injury.

Pope would relish the chance to revive his career and bolster his international ambitions with a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Emery needs a new custodian and the Burnley man would represent a solid summer recruit for the Spaniard.
