Arsenal, Newcastle boost: Player in ‘close contact’ to leave, set to say ‘goodbye’

that Aaron Ramsey could say ‘goodbye’ to Juventus as early as Monday. The Juventus ace is on leave, but is in ‘close contact’ to leave – with Arsenal and Newcastle linked.

Ramsey, 31, has failed to play for Juventus since October – clocking up just five appearances all season. It has been a nightmare spell in Italy, with the 71-time Italy international managing just six goals in 70 games for the Old Lady.

With the Wales ace set to enter the last 18 months of his contract, a return to the Premier League is more than likely. Most recently, reported that Arsenal, West Ham, Everton and Newcastle are all keen on Ramsey.

A return to Arsenal would be a shock move, given Arsenal’s transfer blue print of signing young. But the Welshman is a Gunners icon having clocked up 371 games for the Gunners. Now, Gazzetta hands Arsenal and others a boost.

Ramsey is said to be on leave until Monday. But the report claims that the £230,000-a-week star may only return to Turin to say ‘goodbye’ and that his entourage are in ‘close contact’ with other clubs about a move in January.

Which club is best for Ramsey – Arsenal, Newcastle, Everton or West Ham?

Arsenal could do with a midfielder. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is joining Roma, Mo Elneny is out of contract and both Elneny and Thomas Partey are off to AFCON. Ramsey would solve a lack of options in the middle of the park.

Everton have numerous options, with Abdoulaye Doucoure a brilliant 10. West Ham have good options in the likes of Declan Rice, Pablo Fornals and Tomas Soucek. But Newcastle need him the most.

Newcastle have the cash to match his wages and if the Toon include a relegation release clause, then surely a move to Tyneside appeals. It would make most sense, given Arsenal are hardly going to sign a 31-year-old.
