Arsenal need to elbow Leeds aside and sign £26m-rated terrier – TBR View

Leeds United are reportedly considering a move to sign Nahitan Nandez this summer after being strongly linked with the Uruguay ace before the start of the 2020-21 season – but surely he would be ideal in Arsenal’s midfield.

Nandez, 25, is expected to leave Cagliari this summer even though the Serie A side are winning the battle to avoid relegation. The Italian outfit sit in 17th, one place above the drop zone, but level on points with 18th Benevento.

If they go down, Nandez is likely to go but even if they stay up – the 35-time international could be on his way. Leeds tried to sign him last summer, and will look to do the same again this summer.

The report states that interested parties can get the terrier-like midfielder for just £26million – a player that can play as a box-to-box midfielder or as a holding one, and has huge stamina, great technique and an eye for a pass.

Slightly more attacking than Thomas Partey, he would be the perfect engine-room partner for the Ghanaian star given he is more than willing to get up and down – but combines that with lots of quality and passion.

A player the fans would love, he shares the same agent as current Arsenal outcast Lucas Torreira according to – and that could help the Gunners if they do go after the midfielder. He has a contract until 2024.

Yves Bissouma has been linked with Arsenal as have other midfielders, but in order to bring the best out of Partey, Arsenal need a midfielder ready to do the ugly stuff and work hard. Nandez is perfect for that role.

Elbowing Leeds aside and splashing £26million on Nandez would give Arsenal the perfect midfield combination of Partey and Nandez, as they look to claw back a place among the Premier League elite next season.
