Arsenal must now make move for 17-goal striker who they can sign on a cheaper deal than Takehiro Tomiyasu

If Arsenal were ever going to have a dip in form, right on the cusp of the January transfer window was probably the best possible time for it to happen to Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Gunners went into the window off the back of a run of one win in six games in all competitions. And during that run, they have scored just five goals.

Left-back remains a problem position for Arsenal. But there will also be plenty of Arsenal fans hoping to see a new striker arrive in the coming weeks.

Arsenal have their eye on Ivan Toney. Meanwhile, Dominic Solanke has also been linked with a move.

Arsenal should look at January move for Serhou Guirassy

The problem with Toney is that Brentford want at least £55 million for the forward. And when you consider that Arsenal signed David Raya on loan right at the end of the summer window, it does not appear that Arteta has huge amounts to spend this month.

And that is why one player’s asking price in this window should really alert Arsenal.

Serhou Guirassy has been unbelievable for Stuttgart this season. The 27-year-old has scored 17 goals in 14 Bundesliga games. Only Harry Kane has found the back of the net more often in that competition this term.

This is already the best season of Guirassy’s career. And it would be no surprise to see him offered the chance to move this month due to a release clause in his contract.

As reported by the , Guirassy can leave for just £15 million. .

Stuttgart star would give Gunners something different

Now, Guirassy is not the kind of player who gets involved in the build-up play like Gabriel Jesus does. But he does offer something completely different to the Brazilian.

He is lethal when chances present themselves in the penalty area. And that appears to be exactly what Arsenal need considering that Jesus and Eddie Nketiah have just eight league goals between them this season.

Jesus does so many brilliant things. And there is no question that he has been a game-changing signing, helping elevate the Gunners to another level.

But Arsenal do not have that prolific marksman who will go on an incredible scoring run. Guirassy has failed to find the back of the net in just four league games this season.

Perhaps he will not be the long-term answer to Arsenal’s goalscoring issues. But he could make a massive difference this season considering the title race is so congested.

And if he gets close to replicating his form in the first-half of the campaign, then he will pay back the £15 million fee in no time at all.

Given the limitations Arsenal are dealing with in this window and what they already have in their squad, this feels as though it could be a gamble the Gunners must take.
