Arsenal could be stunned as £100,000-a-week maestro sends flirtatious comment to another club

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka has told podcast that he would be keen to sign for Borussia Monchengladbach when his Gunners deal runs out.

The maestro signed a new deal with Arsenal earlier this year, despite almost signing for Roma during the summer transfer window.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to take him to Serie A and a deal at one point was seemingly set to go through.

For whatever reason, however, nothing transpired and before injury struck Xhaka was viewed as a mainstay in Mikel Arteta’s team.

Xhaka signed for Arsenal from Monchengladbach in 2016. He had a strong rapport with supporters and now it seems he’d be keen to head back.

“I never made the move from Borussia to Arsenal for the money. It was a dream for me to play in England.

“My contract has two and a half years to run. Then I will be 32 and if Max Eberl (Monchengladbach’s director of sport) is willing to bring me back when I’m 32, my door will be open.”

Xhaka earns at the Emirates Stadium and has made 225 appearances for the club.

Intriguing: Has Xhaka suggested he wants to leave Arsenal?

This certainly represents a flirtatious glance in the direction of the Bundesliga giants. Whether they choose to act upon it remains to be seen.

Although Xhaka signed a deal earlier this year, that might have genuinely been a ploy by Arsenal to stop him from leaving for free.

There is nothing really to suggest that the Gunners wouldn’t be open to still letting him go in the coming windows.

A departure in the near future would shellshock Arsenal to be fair. He had just started to play well again before an injury struck during a clash against Tottenham.

Xhaka might not always be the flavour of the month but it would seem that he’s already planning for life after Arsenal.

That might not be a good thing…
