Arsenal may sign Neto instead of ‘preferred’ target on deadline day, Edu has two more options in mind

Arsenal are on the verge of another signing but have been forced to quickly move away from their top target on deadline day.

The Gunners have made a strong start to the new Premier League season with two wins from two games.

Mikel Arteta will be delighted with a pair of 2-0 wins as Arsenal saw of both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Aston Villa.

Arsenal followed up that success by making a big signing, landing Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad.

After raiding the Spanish market for one La Liga ace, Arsenal had been keen on another deal – but may need to move on as the transfer deadline nears.

Arsenal goalkeeper latest as Joan Garcia and Norberto Neto wanted

Arsenal are focusing on signing a new goalkeeper on transfer deadline day.

Aaron Ramsdale is set to join Southampton after the Saints agreed a fee with Arsenal for the goalkeeper.

Ramsdale is stuck behind David Raya at Arsenal and will now leave Arsenal in search of first-team football.

The Gunners now need to find another goalkeeper though and two names are at the forefront of their pursuit.

Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto is now a key target and will undergo a medical with Arsenal ahead of signing on the dotted line.

The Brazilian is not Arsenal’s top target in the position though as the Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel claims that Espanyol’s Joan Garcia is actually the ‘preferred’ signing.

Espanyol are refusing to budge on Garcia’s price tag and will demand £25million; Arsenal have only offered £17million as things stand.

Arsenal are now ready to pivot away and sign Neto instead with claiming that he is now the ‘more likely’ signing than Garcia.

add that Neto would only be a loan deal with no option for a permanent move, with Arsenal seemingly ready to focus on that cheaper move over an expensive Garcia transfer.

Arsenal have asked about two Premier League goalkeepers

Arsenal have had other stoppers on their radar though and two of them actually play for the same Premier League club.

TBR Football understands that Arsenal have spoken to Wolverhampton Wanderers about both Daniel Bentley and Jose Sa.

Bentley has been linked with Arsenal all summer as the Gunners consider adding an English goalkeeper to their ranks.

Sa is a new target though with the Portuguese stopper potentially set to lose his place to incoming Wolves signing Sam Johnstone.

Talks are ongoing with Bournemouth and Espanyol over Neto and Garcia respectively with Sa perhaps another fallback option for the Gunners.

Arsenal certainly seem further down the line with Neto than any other goalkeeping addition but Edu will be working hard throughout the day to find the right goalkeeper to challenge David Raya.
