Arsenal looking to beat Man United to 17-year-old ‘jewel’ labelled the next Martin Odegaard
Since his permanent arrival from Real Madrid in 2021, Martin Odegaard has been as important as any other player in an Arsenal shirt.
Odegaard is now Mikel Arteta’s club captain, a surprise decision at the time, but one that has ultimately spoken for itself.
Odegaard plays such a unique role for Arsenal, he’s a right sided number eight in possession, often dropping deep to link up play.
However, without the ball, Odegaard almost lines up as a pressing forward alongside Kai Havertz in what looks like a 4-4-2.
An incredible talent, who is still slightly underrated if truth be told.
That being said, Arsenal now have their eyes firmly set on the latest big Norwegian talent, who has already been on the radar of Manchester United.
Arsenal think Sverre Nypan has huge potential amid 2025 transfer plan
Rosenborg’s 17-year-old Sverre Nypan has continued to make waves in Norway’s Eliteserien of late.
The young midfielder now has five goals and six assists in 19 games, and according to , Arsenal are now entering the race for Nypan’s signature.

Previously, Man United were leading the way to sign Nypan, who isn’t able to move just yet given he’s not 18-years-old.
However, United’s interest appears to have cooled and Arsenal have spotted an opportunity to sign the ‘jewel’.
According to the report, Arsenal believe that Nypan can develop in a similar way to Odegaard and are attempting to tempt him with their project.
Arsenal are aiming to begin talks with Rosenborg over a deal for January 2025, recognising that United still have a ‘foot in the door’.
Sverre Nypan can thrive alongside Ethan Nwaneri at Arsenal
Given his quality and potential, it seems unfair to compare any young player to Ethan Nwaneri right now.
But perhaps Nypan does actually boast a similar level of potential, a player who’s already made 51 senior appearances for Norway’s most prestigious club at 17-years-old.
Nwaneri could be able to sign a new contract at Arsenal – demonstrating that the club really are preparing for the future.
That being said, in the immediate future, Arsenal are attempting to sign Joan Garcia, another exceptional young talent, even if he does have a few years on those mentioned above.
But it’s clear that Edu and his team have a clear strategy right now, and it’s working well.
