Arsenal loanee Joe Willock reacts to Newcastle debut on Instagram; Lacazette, Luiz and Abraham reply

Joe Willock could not have summed his Newcastle United bow up better, as the Arsenal loanee took to Instagram to express his delight at his ‘dream debut’.

Willock was thrown straight into the starting lineup by Steve Bruce for Saturday’s clash with Southampton. And the Magpies would have expected a big reaction from their opponents given their midweek result.

However, Newcastle secured the three points. And Willock played a crucial role in the win.

He scored the opening goal with a composed finish after Allan Saint-Maximin’s pass. And he was a standout performer on a day in which Newcastle ended the game with nine men.

Of course, the 21-year-old needs to prove that he can be a game-changer on a consistent basis if he hopes to really catch Mikel Arteta’s eye.

But there is no question that the midfielder has made an outstanding start to life on Tyneside. And if his debut proves to be a sign of what is to come, the coming months could be looked back upon as a pivotal moment in the youngster’s career.

Unsurprisingly, Willock took to Instagram following the game to comment on the result. And the reaction has been remarkable.

Plenty of Arsenal stars replied, with Eddie Nketiah labelling him the GOAT. Meanwhile, there were also comments from the likes of Tammy Abraham and Neco Williams.
